About RBCC

The Remote Base Contest Club (RBCC) was started in 2021 as a way for members and known associates to participate in Amateur Radio HF Radiosport Contest, On-The-Air Operating Events, Field Days, and Parks-On-The-Air. Creative solutions are used, including infrastructure that allows operating a radio through a local LAN or remotely from nearly anywhere with a stable internet connection.

While originally on the air as one-off events while experimenting with new techniques and equipment, especially on the remote base side, RBCC has opened up to more group level activities and activations now that the system has been refined and made more robust.

RBCC primarily operates under the FCC issued club call WX8S.

RBCC strives to maintain a high level of operating proficiency, efficiency, and professionalism and therefore individual membership is strictly on an invitation-only basis by group leadership for the sake of keeping our on-the-air activations controlled and successful. We are not a random rag chew casual operating group and put a lot effort and planning into major on-the-air operating events and set goals to be measured by. We take the concept of Radiosport seriously and are competitive as such. We know this type of regimented operating is not for everyone and is why participation is highly controlled.

Reach out if you are interested in participating with our local activations in the Southwest Ohio area and you will be added to the list of candidates. An interview / vetting process is necessary to ensure candidates are capable of fitting (read as surviving) in our Radiosport activities. Those that qualify and pass the test are then considered for membership by group leadership. A minimum of General Class Amateur Radio License is required to be eligible.
